ISLAMABAD (Adeeb Kakar): The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) said the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) received ‘foreign prohibited funds’ from thirty four foreign nationals and issued the party a show cause notice. 

ECP three-member bench was announced the unanimous decision reserved in 21 June this year.

The electoral body declared that 13 ‘unknown’ accounts have been found linked to the party and the affidavit submitted by PTI chairman Imran Khan was also ‘fabricated’. 

The election commission, in its finding, also said the party violated Article 17 of the Constitution of Pakistan. 

During the ECP verdict on PTI foreign prohibited funding much-awaited verdict there was a high alert security placed in the federal capital. Extra contingents of police and riot police forces were deployed to avoid any untoward incident.
