ISLAMABAD (Eshfak Mughal):- The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has imposed penalty of “Censure” to an officer who went Saudi Arabia for perfuming Umra without getting approval of ex-Pakistan Leave from competent authority.

According to the FBR Malik Ashfaq Ahmad, Senior Auditor (BS-16), Regional Tax Office, Lahore has unauthorized absence from duty w.e.f. 31.01.2022 to 18.02.2022

The authority decided to initiate disciplinary proceeding against the accused officer and issued a direct Show Cause Notice on 16.06.2022. for performance of Umrah.

During the personal hearing, the accused officer contended that he applied for ex-Pakistan leave on 11.01.2022 through proper channel well before his departure for performing Umrah. His leave was endorsed by the Additional Commissioner IR on 13.01.2022. However, the same was received in the office of Chief Commissioner IR on 24.01.2022.

Since he was hopeful for approval of his leave and had already bought the tickets and completed other arrangement, hence he went abroad with the bona-fide intentions.

After having gone through the case record and contention of the accused during the course of hearing, the authority has opinion that the case warrants a lenient view and, therefore, decided to impose a minor penalty “Censure” upon Malik Ashfaq Ahmad.

. Penalty of censure is being imposed considering apparent compromise on office norms by the accused Senior Auditor notwithstanding his rebuttal and scenario obtaining as a result of scanning his official record.
