ISLAMABAD:- The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) will electronically monitor to the cement sector by introducing Track and Trace System in order to minimize the possible risk of tax evasion in the sector from 1st Oct 2022.

The FBR has issued a notification on Tuesday in this regard. According to the notification, “no cement bags shall be allowed to be removed from a production site, factory premises or manufacturing plant or import station without fixation of tax stamps/Unique Identification Markings (UIM) with effect from 1st Oct 2022 which are to be obtained/procured from FBR’s Licensee M/s. AJCL/MITAS/Authentix Consortium”. 

The decision has been taken with the approval of the competent authority, member Inland Revenue Operations of FBR, mentioned in the notification.  

It is pertinent to mention here that the provisions of Section 40C of the Sales Tax Act, 1990 read with Rules 150ZF of the Sales Tax Rules, 2996 mandate to the FBR to notify the date for the implementation of Electronic Monitoring of Production and sales of goods in the manner prescribed in the law on all manufacturing site of notified sectors.  

Earlier, the FBR has been introduced track and trace system in sugar, tobacco Products, beverages and petroleum products and fertilizer sectors.
