KARACHI (our reporter):- Finanly, the Mutahida Qomi Movement has won the by-election in NA-240 korangi area of port city after tough competition with Tehrik Labaik Pakistan on Thursday.

The MQM’s Muhammad Abu Bakar of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) won the by-election on NA-240 seat which was vacant due to death of MQM’s Iqbal Muhammad Khan.

According to unofficial results of 309 polling stations of NA-240 Korangi Karachi 2 by-election, Muhammad Abukar of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Pakistan is leading with 10683 votes while Tehreek-e-Lubaik Pakistan (TLP) Prince Shahbaz is second with 10618 votes.

Besides, Rafi-ud-Din of Mohajir Qaumi Movement got 8349 votes and Nasir Rahim of PPP got 5240 votes while Shabir Qaim Khani of Pak-Sar-Zamin Party got 4782 votes.

In this by-election, 25 candidates were in the fray while. Indeed, only three candidate could entered in competition including the candidates of MQM, TLP and Muhajar Qoumi Movement. PPP, Pak Sarzameen Party and others could not get attention of voters, even turn out of the by-election was remained over 8 percent.

There were also fights and shootings during the polls, which left one person dead and several others injured.

According to the Election Commission, the turnout in the constituency was 8.38 percent and the total number of voters is 529,855.

Provincial Election Commissioner Ejaz Ahmad Chauhan said that the result of polling station No. 51 has not been stopped, the result will be released now.

Earlier, it was said that the final result of NA-240 would not be announced today as the results of polling station No. 51 have been withheld due to tension.

After the Tehreek-e-Lubaik Pakistan (TLP) chief Hafiz Saadar Rizvi while addressing a press conference at Landhi Central Election Office said that the people of Korangi supported against the the rotten political parties. He said that TLP workers continued polling process in every possible way but he alleged that ballot boxes were snatched from some polling stations.

Saad Rizvi said that the role of the Election Commission was in question, 74 votes of TLP were rejected at only one polling booth.

He said that our candidate has applied for recount, we will expose every character involved in rigging. Saad Rizvi said that we had applied for voting on the day off.
