ISLAMABAD:- The Army spokesman Major General Babar Iftekhar said that the leadership believes that former President and Army Chief should return to Pakistan who is in critical position in Dubai.
Pervez Musharraf was in self exile from last five years when he had gone to Dubai on the medical basis amid facing trail in courts on violating constitution on 3 Nov 2007.
In light of Pervez Musharraf’s health condition, Director-General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Babar Iftikhar said Tuesday the military leadership believes that the former army chief should return to Pakistan.
“In such a situation the institution and leadership’s stance is that Pervez Musharraf should return,” said DG ISPR.
The military’s spokesperson, during an interview with a private television channel, said that the final call for the return of the ex-president who resides in the United Arab Emirates to Pakistan would be made by his family.
“We have contacted his family. Once his family responds, we can make the required arrangements,” the military’s spokesperson said as he prayed for Musharraf’s speedy recovery.
The Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif also said last week he believed that no hurdles should be placed if the former dictator wanted to come back to Pakistan.
After this statement, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif also support this statement and said that the govt should facilitate if Musharraf wants to come back in Pakistan.
He said that he doesn’t have any personal enmity or tussle with the former President. I do not want anyone else to suffer the traumas that I have to endure for my loved ones,” he said through twitter.
Nawaz added that he is praying for the health of the former dictator, adding that if he wishes to come home, then the government should facilitate his return.
