ISLAMABAD (our reporter)ː- The fifth waive of corona virus has put significant pressure on health sector of the country as the number of critical patients has been touching to 1300.

The number of critical patients of Corona virus has been increasing to 1293, according to the new figures released by National Command and Operation Center (NCOC). The web portal says the 93 more patients went to critical condition during last 24 hours in the country.

the country’s COVID-19 positivity ratio remained above 10 percent for the seventh consecutive day, the National Command and Operation Centre’s (NCOC) data showed Wednesday morning, with the government mulling over more restrictions for cities with high positivity rates.

The country recorded a positivity rate of 10.17% as 5,196 new coronavirus cases were recorded after 51,063 tests were conducted across Pakistan in the last 24 hours, NCOC’s figures showed. The overall positivity rate and daily COVID-19 case count, however, has registered a minor decline in the last two days, as per the NCOC stats. 

With the detection of new cases, the number of total cases have jumped to 1.386 million, while 15 more patients have succumbed to the virus, taking the death toll to 29,137, the official stats showed.

According to some reports that the government has decided to control the COVID-19 situation by imposing further restrictions in cities with a positivity ratio higher than 10 percent.

Currently, there are number of cities which have positivity rate above from ten percent. according to the official reports, karachi is the hiɡhest positivity rate around 41 percent. After that, Peshawar has 28percent, Muzaffarabad 27 percent, Hyderabad 26percent, Rawalpindi 13 percent, Mardan 12.6 percent, Lahore 11 percent, Nowshera 10.9 percent, Islamabad 10.6 percent and Abbottabad has 10.6 percent.

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has also directed that all the airport staff and passengers across the country to wear masks to prevent corona pandemic.

The notification said staff members and passengers would not be allowed inside the airport premises without wearing masks.

According to the NCOC, 643,689 vaccines administered across Pakistan during in last 24 hours. After that, the
total vaccines administered have been increased to 173.417 million, upto date.
